June Summary: Hays and Page Q2 updates should dispel any over-optimism among recruiters. The best conclusion that can be drawn is that Q3 may see some stabilisation - neither are seeing any signs of recovery at this stage. Examining the wider picture and assuming that the recession bottoms out later this year with tangible economic recovery by mid 2010, unemployment could well continue to rise at least throughout much of 2010.
